Because it’s not. Get it out of your head that we “deserve” it because “thiefshipping is popular” as a result of TAS. ESPECIALLY for people who don’t even ship it because of TAS, this is just a ridiculous idea to begin with and proves you just want to be cruel to someone for the hell of it.
Get it out of your head that nitpicking “this is ooc” or “that is ooc” via anon (or even not on anon) in long and exquisite detail is a wonderful idea for thiefshippers because YOU have only a very narrow view on how it could work in canon, since you don’t ship it. You don’t ship it, get out of here. Stop fooling yourself into thinking that you’re trying to help…. it’s just another excuse to make someone feel bad, and you know it.
STOP blaming thiefshippers for every little thing that goes wrong in fandom and using that as armor against any outrage you might receive when you say stupid things like that.
I have watched people leave this fandom because of behavior like this from other fans of the show. As in, not convert over to another ship, but leave the fandom entirely. And that’s got to stop.

Here, here. It’s not—-It shouldn’t be this difficult to agree to disagree. Part of the fun of a fandom is interpreting what you have from the canon to make it work. There is so little interaction between Marik and Bakura in the YGO canon that interpretations are going to inevitably vary, not even touching on TAS.
Shipping other things is not a threat to your life, characterization isn’t either. This is all supposed to be fun, do we really need a constant reminder of this fact?!
